Coffee & Lunch in Whangarei
Whangarei has a surprisingly strong cafe scene — from on-site specialty roasters to brilliant bagels, artisan bakeries and waterfront spots at the Town Basin.
Whangarei punches well above its weight when it comes to coffee and casual dining. Whether you're after a serious specialty brew, a long weekend brunch, something quick from a bakery, or a waterfront coffee with harbour views — here are our top picks.
Specialty Coffee
Sabio Coffee Roastery
Whangarei's best address for serious coffee. Sabio roasts all its own beans on-site with head roaster Craig Campbell at the helm, and the espresso bar is as good as the roastery. The all-day breakfast menu includes keto and paleo-friendly options. They also run cupping evenings and home barista workshops if you want to take some knowledge home with you.
